Pensioners in Mabaruma

Pensioners visiting the Mabaruma Post Office this morning experienced a smoother and more organised process as regional officials introduced a new number system aimed at reducing long lines and improving comfort for seniors collecting their pensions.

Mr. Brentnol Ashley, Regional Chairman, along with Mr. Seewchan, Regional Executive Officer (REO), and Mr. Shem Cuffy, Deputy Regional Executive Officer (DREO), met with pensioners at the Mabaruma Post Office where they carried out a kind gesture by providing breakfast for those gathered. Pensioners were treated to coffee and cross buns while they awaited for their numbers to be called.

During the engagement, the team introduced a new number-based system for pension collection. Under this system, pensioners receive a number upon arrival.

This initiative is designed to eliminate the usual pushing and long lines, while ensuring a fair first-come, first-served process.

This is expected to significantly improve the experience for senior citizens by allowing them to wait comfortably rather than standing in long lines.

To support the process, pathway staff have been assigned to the Post Office to assist the postmaster in ensuring the smooth flow of operation and guiding pensioners through the new system.

Ashley noted that the initiative is aimed at creating a more organised environment for pensioners when accessing their benefits.
