More than a week after his wife, 89-year-old Lackandai Tamessar, was found dead with stab wounds to her body in her Ogle Airstrip Road, East Coast Demerara home, her husband, the prime suspect, was found dead.

Police stated that 88-year-old Michael Raymond Haralall Tamassar, also called ‘Mike,’ was last seen alive at about 7: 00h on Thursday by his son, with whom he was residing at Bladen Hall School Compound Living Quarters, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

However, he was discovered unresponsive at about 9:38h in the living room. He was then escorted to the Buxton Health Centre and was pronounced dead. A post mortem is expected to be conducted shortly.

The elderly man was taken into custody and subsequently released for questioning in connection with the death of his wife, whose body was found on December 31, 2025. She was found lying motionless with stab wounds on her body.
