Police are investigating a fatal incident which occurred on Sunday, December 7, 2025 about 16:10hrs on Fyrish Access Road, Corentyne, Berbice involving a motorcycle (registration number unknown) driven by 38-year-old Travis Joseph of Fyrish Village, Corentyne, Berbice (deceased).
Initial investigations revealed that the motorcycle was proceeding north along the western side of the roadway, allegedly at a fast rate of speed, when the cyclist lost control of the motorcycle.
As a result, Joseph was flung from the motorcycle and landed a short distance away on the grass parapet, where he received injuries to his head and body. He was picked up by public-spirited citizens in a semi-conscious condition and taken to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where he was seen and treated by the doctor on duty.
He was later referred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical attention. His body is presently at the hospital’s mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
Investigations are continuing.
