One man is in police custody following the discovery of a quantity of ammunition on Thursday (June 11, 2026) during a joint operation conducted in the Iwokrama Rainforest Reserve, Supuruni River area.
Based on Police reporta, during the exercise, ranks stopped and searched a silver aluminium boat occupied by six persons.
A search was conducted on the personal belongings of a 33-year-old miner of Paramakatoi Village, Region #8, during which a haversack containing a white plastic bag with four live 12-gauge cartridges was found.
The suspect was arrested and escorted to the Annai Police Station along with the ammunition.
The ammunition was lodged pending further investigation.
The suspect remains in police custody assisting with investigations.
Investigations are ongoing.
