Police in Regional Division #4C (East Coast Demerara) have arrested the driver of a motorcar following the discovery of a Glock 19 pistol and four matching rounds of ammunition, which were found today (Sunday, September 13, 2026) about 00:30hrs at Lusignan, ECD.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Police ranks, while on patrol duty, observed a motor car proceeding along the Good Hope Railway Embankment. The vehicle was subsequently stopped in the vicinity of the Lusignan Health Centre.
Ranks contacted the driver, a 25-year-old auto technician of Lusignan, who was the lone occupant of the motor car and conducted a search of the vehicle in his presence. During the search, a Glock 19 pistol was found concealed beneath the driver’s seat. The firearm contained a magazine with four matching live rounds of ammunition.
The driver, who indicated that he is not the holder of a firearm licence, was arrested and escorted to the Vigilance Police Station along with the firearm, ammunition and motor car, which were lodged pending investigation.
The suspect remains in Police custody as investigations continue.
