Linden fatal shooting: Cop says his gun accidentally went off; victim was wanted for rape

On Monday 7th April 2025, at about 17: 30 hrs a Police Sergeant from Wismar Police Station reported that he received information that Ronaldo Peter MMR age 26 yrs, who is wanted for questioning in relation to a report of an alleged rape of child under 16 yrs which occurred some time between 1st December 2024 and 31st January 2025 was seen at Shabba bar in One mile, Wismar, Linden.
As a result, the Sergeant and party of ranks went to that location. The Sergeant was armed with a 9mm service pistol, and another rank was armed with a .38 service revolver. These ranks were fully dressed in uniform.
On arrival at One Mile Wismar Linden, Ronaldo Peters was seen at Shaba shop.
Upon seeing the ranks, Ranaldo Peters, it is alleged began to run and attempted to jump a nearby fence.
It is further alleged by the Sergeant that he managed to pull off Ronaldo Peters from the fence and in the process of subduing him, his service pistol, which was in his right hand, went off and Peters was hit.
He was immediately escorted to the Mackenzie Public Hospital. However, he succumbed while receiving treatment.
Ronaldo Peters body was examined, and one circular wound was seen on his right side lower abdomen.
The body was escorted to the Pensioners Mortuary awaiting PME.
Investigations are ongoing.
The Sergeant is presently under close arrest and escorted to TSU, and the OPR has commenced an investigation.
