Linden chef killed in 3-vehcile collision along Linden Highway  

A chef has become Guyana’s latest road fatality following a three-vehicle collision on Friday evening in the vicinity of Loo Creek, Linden/Soesdyke Highway.

The dead man has been identified as Jamal Albert of Greenheart Street, Mackenzie, Linden.

Based on reports received, the accident occurred at about 19:45h and involved motor car PAM 471, which was at the time driven by Albert, and motor car GAK 1074, driven by a resident of Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Albert was driving at a fast rate of speed and, in the process of overtaking several vehicles, he ended up in the path of the motor canter, which was being towed by another motor canter, thus resulting in a head-on collision.

As a result of the collision, Albert was reportedly trapped in the wrecked vehicle he was driving and had to be removed by members of the Guyana Fire Service (GFS), who had to cut the mangled vehicle.

He, along with a 39-year-old occupant of the motor car, was rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex, where Albert succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical treatment.

The female occupant of the car and the driver of the Canter were treated and admitted. They received lacerations to their bodies.
