The United Kingdom on Wednesday announced the Joseph Fisher has been appointed as the new British High Commissioner to Guyana, as well as Non-Resident Ambassador to Suriname and Ambassador to CARICOM.
This was according to a statement from the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
Fisher will replace Jane Miller, who is set to retire from the Diplomatic Service. Fisher is scheduled to assume his new roles in April 2026.

Fisher joined the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 2007 and has since held various roles within the department and in national security.
Most recently, he served as Private Secretary to the National Security Adviser from 2024 to 2025. Prior to that, he was Deputy Principal Private Secretary to the Foreign Secretary.
