Industrial Supply of Guyana (ISG) officially inaugurated its SKF Seal Jet manufacturing capability at its Berbice Branch in Port Mourant on Wednesday, January 21st  marking a major milestone in the company’s long-term investment in local industry, skills development, and customer service in Region Six.

The inauguration formed part of ISG’s first-ever Customer Appreciation Event in Berbice and was attended by a wide cross-section of customers, partners, and business leaders from across the region. Guests witnessed a live demonstration of the Seal Jet machine, including the on-site manufacturing of a customized hydraulic seal, which was met with applause as local machinist Vishal Victor completed the process in real time.

The newly commissioned SKF Seal Jet system allows for the rapid, on-demand production of customized industrial seals to precise specifications. This capability significantly reduces lead times and equipment downtime for customers in agriculture, manufacturing, mining, transport, and other key sectors, while eliminating the need to source customized seals from outside the region.

Speaking at the event, ISG’s President and General Manager German Consuegra highlighted that the Port Mourant facility was always envisioned as a long-term development project rather than a single investment.

“From day one, this facility was designed with a future vision in mind. Less than a year and a half later, and after investing millions of dollars in assets, equipment, and readiness, we are here today officially launching this capability,” Consuegra said. “This is local talent delivering world-class capability, right here in Berbice.”

He noted that since the branch’s inauguration in August 2024, ISG has steadily expanded its footprint in the region through significant inventory investments, warehouse operations, power generation solutions, and the introduction of FOTON heavy-duty trucks. The Seal Jet installation represents the next step in building sustainable, high-value industrial services in Berbice.

Importantly, all machinists supporting the Seal Jet operation are Berbice natives and graduates of the New Amsterdam Technical Institute, underscoring ISG’s commitment to developing local skills alongside advanced technology.

The event also featured remarks from Mr. Poonai Bhigroog, President of the Central Corentyne Chamber of Commerce, who commended ISG for recognizing the importance of strong customer relationships and community-focused investment.

“Strong businesses help strengthen communities, create employment, and contribute meaningfully to national development,” Bhigroog stated. “ISG’s customer appreciation initiative reflects professionalism, integrity, and a genuine commitment to business development in Corentyne and Guyana.” (Press release)
