The Guyana Police Force is investigating the discovery of a Glock 17 pistol and matching ammunition which were found at a resort located on the Soesdyke–Linden Highway on Saturday.
Based on police reports, a 34-year-old security guard attached to the resort was conducting routine checks around the compound at around 20:30h, when he observed what appeared to be a firearm near a small drain along a concrete walkway.
The security guard took possession of the weapon and contacted the police.
Ranks responded, during which the security guard handed over the firearm. It was escorted to the Timehri Police Station, where it was examined and observed to be a Glock 17 pistol with a magazine containing seventeen (17) 9mm rounds of ammunition.
The firearm and ammunition were lodged pending further examination.
Investigations are ongoing.
