Great Diamond Block 7 allottees begin lot identification following infrastructure delays 

After several setbacks in the completion of infrastructure works, including delays caused by delinquent contractors, persons allocated residential lots at Great Diamond Block 7, East Bank Demerara, have begun identifying their respective lots.

The Ministry of Housing and Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) has been working to advance the development after being forced, in some instances, to terminate the services of contractors who failed to meet their contractual obligations.

During today’s exercise, allottees were shown lots within Parcels 5077–5094, 5171–5188 and 5231–5308, marking an important step forward for families who have been awaiting access to their allocations.

Minister of Housing, the Hon. Collin Croal, was on the ground during the exercise, interacting with allottees and observing the lot identification process.

Minister Croal expressed appreciation for the patience demonstrated by allottees throughout the delays and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to advancing the remaining works so that beneficiaries can move forward with constructing their homes.

Meanwhile, persons allocated lots within Parcels 5094–5170 will soon be able to identify their lots. Surveyors are currently awaiting the completion of land-levelling works before proceeding with the exercise in that section.

A total of 496 persons have been allocated residential lots at Great Diamond Block 7.

Given the ongoing infrastructure works, the lot identification exercise is being undertaken in phases as sections become ready.

For the participating allottees, Wednesday’s exercise represented a significant milestone, bringing them closer to commencing construction of their homes. Several beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the progress and excitement about moving forward with their homeownership plans.

The exercise was facilitated by the Surveys Unit of the Ministry of Housing and CH&PA, which will continue the lot identification process for the remaining allottees as works progress.
