GPL workers educated on sexual harassment; proper procedures for reporting & investigating

In a strategic effort to foster a respectful and equitable workplace environment, the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security’s Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Policy Unit (SO&DVPU) and the Gender Affairs Bureau (GAB) conducted a comprehensive training programme on Sexual Harassment to staff of the Guyana Power and Light Inc. (GPL) at their Sophia Training Centre on Monday.
This comprehensive session equipped GPL staff with a nuanced understanding of sexual harassment, including its various forms and the significance of implementing effective organisational policies.
The staff were also educated on the proper procedures for reporting and investigating incidents, as well as the critical role of employer protection against retaliation for those who file complaints, thereby contributing to a more secure and just work environment.
