Police are investigating the alleged ill-treatment of a child, committed on a one (1) year old female of Lot 218 Blueberry Hill, Wismar, Linden, which occurred at about 22:26 hrs on March 22nd, 2025 at the above-mentioned address by suspect Kester Johnson.

Enquiries disclosed that the mother of the child Sawdia Bobb, an unemployed woman residing at Lot 218 Blueberry Hill in Wismar, has been in a relationship with Kester Johnson for ten years and they have three children together — ages three, two and one.

During the second week of February 2025, the first instance of physical violence occurred when Kester allegedly slapped her (Sawdia) during an argument over a ‘voice note’, causing her to leave and stay with a friend for several days.

On March 22nd, Sawdia became involved in a physical altercation with Kester at their home. Sawdia then went to the Wismar Police Station and made a report about Kester abusing and assaulting her. However, she did not give a written statement, claiming she would return but never did.

On March 25th, 2025 at about 15:25 hrs, after receiving information, ranks from the Wismar Police Station contacted Sawdia and interviewed her about a video showing her child being ill-treated (toddler seen hanging with a bed sheet). Sawdia claimed she had the video (on her phone) and deleted it because she did not want anyone to know about it because of her daughter’s age. Sawdia was asked to retrieve the video from her ‘trash’, which she did, and she showed the police a video of her child hanging from a sheet.

An investigation was launched which revealed that Kester Johnson made the phone video and sent it to Sawdia’s phone.

The suspect was arrested, and both Sawdia and her mother’s phones were lodged for the video to be extracted. Further investigations are being carried out.

A charge of Assault was prepared against Kester Johnson for court presentation tomorrow (March 27th, 2025). A file is also being prepared for child abuse.

It should be noted that the toddler in question was medically examined, and there were no visible marks of violence. The toddler is alive and well.

Investigations are ongoing
