Essequibo woman killed after being struck down while stopping vehicles

Hours after being struck down along the Anna Regina Public Road, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), 29-year-old Ashley Holder of Bushlot, Essequibo Coast has succumbed to her injuries.

Police reported that the accident, which occurred on Friday, involved the driver of motor car PAK 4313, who alleged that he was proceeding south on the eastern driving lane at a normal rate of speed when he felt an impact to the front of his motor car.

He immediately stopped, and upon checking, he observed Holder lying unconscious in front of his motor car. She was picked up and taken to the Lima Public Hospital, where she was admitted with lacerations to her face, body, and trauma to her head.

The driver, along with his vehicle, was taken to the Anna Regina Police Station, where he was placed into custody. A breathalyzer test was conducted on the driver, and the result was 10 micrograms which is below the legal limit of alcohol consumption.

However, video footage collected from the vehicle ‘s dash camera showed that the now-deceased was seen on Queenstown Public Road stopping motor vehicles.

Meanwhile, she succumbed on Saturday while receiving treatment at Lima Regional Public Hospital. The driver remains in police custody, assisting with the investigation.
