Two men, 27-year-old Isiah Charles and 39-year-old Sheldon Chase, were on Friday remanded to prison after being found with some 2.614 kilogrammes of marijuana.
They appeared before Magistrate Clive Nurse at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court on charges related to the offence of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking, to wit, 2.614 kilogrammes of cannabis.

Both men pleaded not guilty and were refused bail. The matter has been adjourned to April 2, 2026.
Charles and Chase were arrested on Thursday after they were intercepted by officers attached to the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU).
Acting on information received, the officers conducted an operation in the vicinity of Success Village, East Coast Demerara, where they intercepted a motor vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed several brick-like parcels containing a quantity of cannabis.
The duo was arrested and escorted to CANU Headquarters, along with the narcotics, which weighed 2.614 kilogrammes.
