A 27-year-old Police Corporal of Rosignol, West Coast Berbice, is currently under close arrest after the vehicle he was driving struck another motorcar, resulting in the death of the driver, 38-year-old Kevin London of Guyhoc Park Gardens, Georgetown.
The accident occurred at about 05:00h on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at the intersection of Macaw Road and Lamaha Street, Georgetown.
Based on police reports, motor car #PAE 8323 was proceeding north along Macaw Road while motor car #PAF 3925, driven by London, was proceeding west along Lamaha Street. As the two vehicles approached the intersection, it is alleged that both drivers failed to stop before proceeding into the junction, resulting in the front portion of motor car #PAE 8323 colliding with the left centre portion of motor car #PAF 3925.
As a result of the collision, Kevin London sustained injuries to his body and was transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). He subsequently succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, while receiving medical treatment.
The body is presently at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
CCTV cameras were seen in the area and were reviewed.
A breathalyser test conducted on the driver of motor car #PAE 8323 found no trace of alcohol in his breath.
The driver is presently under close arrest assisting with investigations.
Investigations are ongoing.
