One day after 47-year-old Edward McCollin also called “Butler,” a Chief Security Officer of South Vryheid’s Lust, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was intercepted with a 9mm Taurus pistol and five live rounds of ammunition, he was charged and granted bail.
McCollin appeared before Magistrate Clive Nurse at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court where the charges were read to him.

He pleaded not guilty and was granted in the sum of $400,000. He will make his next court appearance on February 18, 2026.
It was reported that on January 1, 2026, ranks were conducting an operation along the Sparendaam/Plaisance Railway Embankment when the 47-year-old Chief Security Officer was arrested.
Police stated that during the operation, the man was observed standing among several individuals and upon noticing them, he proceeded away from the location in a hurried manner and was subsequently intercepted.
The gun and ammunition were found in his possession during a search.
