A 30-year-old labourer of Charity Riverdam, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) has been remanded on a cocaine trafficking charge.
Munesh Samaroo, last week, appeared at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court where he was charged with the offence of possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking with nine grams of cocaine.
Reports are that the man was founded with the illegal substance on the evening of February 9 whilst at the Xenon night club in Charity.
This publication understands that ranks were on mobile patrols when they observed Samaroo standing outside the club, acting in a suspicious manner. As such, a searched was conducted on him, during which, the drugs were found.
During the court proceedings which took place before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir, Samaroo pleaded guilty with an explanation, but based on the explanation, the magistrate opted to enter a not guilty plead.
Bail was objected to by the prosecutor and the defendant was remanded to prison until March 16 for disclosures.
