Brothers shot after stabbing security guard during argument at ECD supermarket

A security guard shot and injured two brothers after one of them stabbed him during an argument at a Chinese-owned supermarket on the Enterprise Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara.
The incident occurred at about 20:40 hrs on Friday at the O_GUO Supermarket, where the 25-year-old security guard – employed with C.M.C Security Service – was on duty. The two injured brothers have been identified as Ryan and Randy Narine of La Bonne Intention (LBI), ECD.
Inquiries revealed that the security guard was on duty at the supermarket, armed with a shotgun and live cartridges, when the brothers entered to purchase beers and chocolate. While at the counter, Ryan Narine had a disagreement with the cashier over the price of the items, and the guard intervened.
This resulted in a confrontation with the guard, the two brothers, and another individual known as “Boy.”
During the confrontation, Randy Narine inflicted a stab wound to the left side abdomen of the guard, who then discharged two rounds from the shotgun, injuring both Randy and Ryan in their leg.
Emergency Medical Technicians from the Melanie Fire Station were summoned, and Randy and Ryan were transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC) via ambulance. The 25-year-old guard was also escorted to the same hospital by public-spirited citizens.
The three individuals were admitted and are currently in stable condition.
Further investigations are ongoing.
