The two Berbice men who were nabbed with 21.5 kilograms of cannabis during a police operation on Thursday at Strathspey Public Road, East Demerara (EBD), were both remanded to prison when they appeared at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
Charged were Travis Thomas, 35, of Glasgow Village, East Bank Berbice, and Trendy Forde, 31, of Heath Burn, EBB. They pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to them by Magistrate Sunil Scare.
They were remanded to prison until March 2, 2026.
It was reported that ranks attached to Regional Division #4 ‘C’ were conducting an operation when they intercepted a motorcar with the two occupants – one from Glasgow Village, East Bank Berbice (EBB), and the other from Heathburn, EBB.
A subsequent search of the vehicle unearthed one bulky salt bag containing two plastic-wrapped parcels with ganja. They were arrested and taken to the Cove and John Police Station, where the narcotics were weighed and amounted to 21.5 kilograms.
