A 35-year-old driver along with a 31-year-old male passenger, both from Berbice was taken into custody following the discovery of a large quantity of ganja during a police operation on Thursday at Strathspey Public Road, East Demerara (EBD).
Police stated that ranks of Regional Division #4 ‘C’ were conducting an operation when they intercepted a motorcar with two occupants – one from Glasgow Village, East Bank Berbice (EBB) and the other from Heathburn, EBB.

A subsequent search of the vehicle unearthed one bulky salt bag containing two plastic-wrapped parcels with ganja.
They were arrested and taken to the Cove and John Police Station, where the narcotics were weighed and amounted to 21.5 kilograms. Charges are expected to be instituted against the men shortly.
