Guyana assumes regional leadership as CASSOS convenes meeting to advance Caribbean aviation standards
The Director General of the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority, Lt. Col. (Ret’d) Egbert Field on Friday presided over the 29th Board of Directors Meeting of the Caribbean Aviation Safety and Security Oversight System (CASSOS) at the Aiden by Best Western Hotel, Georgetown.
This inaugural session under his Chairmanship established a strong platform for advancing regional aviation priorities and strategic objectives.

All member states were represented at the meeting. The agenda included the full implementation of the CARICOM Multilateral Air Services Agreement (MASA), strategic organizational restructuring, measures to enhance CASSOS’s financial sustainability, and the progression of the One Stop Security initiative. The deliberations reflected a shared resolve to advance regional aviation standards and reinforce cooperation among Caribbean nations.
CASSOS, a specialized unit within CARICOM, remains instrumental in enhancing aviation safety and security oversight throughout the Caribbean. The organization is committed to maintaining the region’s leadership in global aviation standards and best practices.
Guyana will hold the Chairmanship of CASSOS for the 2026–2028 term, further positioning the nation at the forefront of regional aviation leadership.
