The Private Sector Commission (PSC), the umbrella body representing Guyana’s private sector, met with representatives of Citi to discuss the bank’s establishment of a representative office in Guyana and opportunities for collaboration with the local business community.

The discussions focused on Citi’s global network and capabilities, as well as opportunities to support Guyana’s growing economy through access to finance, foreign exchange solutions, investment and project financing across key sectors including infrastructure, construction, agriculture, housing, hospitality and tourism.

Citi shared its interest in understanding the Guyanese market and identifying opportunities where its international network and expertise can support businesses and investment. The PSC highlighted the private sector’s growing demand for access to foreign exchange and financing, particularly for local businesses and projects that may be smaller individually but can be combined through consortiums to meet international financing requirements.

Both sides agreed on the importance of continued engagement and strengthening their relationship as Citi expands its presence in Guyana and opportunities for collaboration are identified. (PSC)
