The body of a West Coast Berbice man who had been reported missing was discovered in a bushy area at Catherine’s Lust on Tuesday morning.
He has been identified as 43-year-old O’Neil Kacy McAlmond, an ambulance driver of Barker Lane, Hopetown Village, West Coast Berbice.
Reports indicate that McAlmond left his home on Monday morning but never returned home. Concerned relatives made several attempts to locate him before reporting him missing at the Fort Wellington Police Station later that evening.
On Tuesday morning, family members received information that a man was lying motionless in a clump of bushes at Catherine’s Lust. They immediately travelled to the area, where they made the grim discovery. The body was subsequently identified as that of McAlmond.
Police suspect the cause of death is suicide but investigations remain ongoing.
