A 331-year-old Opposition Member of Parliament has been arrested following an alleged domestic violence incident at Moruca, North West District, Region One (Barima-Waini) on Wednesday, according to the Guyana Police Force.
While police did not reveal the MP’s name, this publication was informed that the person is MP Deon LaCruz from the We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) party, founded by United States sanctioned and indicated businessman, Azruddin Mohamed.

Police in Regional Division # 1 are investigating an alleged domestic violence incident which occurred on Wednesday June 10, 2026 about 17:00hrs at Moruca, North West District, Region #1, involving a 31-year-old Opposition Member of Parliament and his reputed wife.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim and the suspect were at their residence when an argument allegedly ensued between them, which escalated into a physical altercation.
During the incident, the suspect allegedly assaulted a four-year-old child, causing the victim to intervene.
The suspect allegedly dealt the victim several blows and pushed her to the ground, causing her to hit her head and briefly lose consciousness.
The victim further alleged that the suspect later armed himself with a chopper and advanced towards her in a threatening manner, causing her to fear for her life and personal safety.
The victim reported the matter at the Acquero Police Station and was escorted to seek medical attention.
The suspect was later arrested and placed into custody as investigations continue.
