Berbice taxi driver who crashed car into canal dies from multiple stab wounds – autopsy
A post-mortem performed on the remains of 41-year-old Oswain Lawson revealed that he died from multiple incised stab wounds resulting in hemorrhage and collapsed lungs.
The examination was conducted by government pathologist Dr. Vivekanand Brijmohan on Wednesday.
It was reported that Lawson of Stanleytown, Berbice was at a social gathering on Tuesday morning on Edinburgh Public Road, East Bank Berbice (EBB) when an argument broke out between him and the suspect, which quickly led to an altercation during which he was stabbed several times.
In an attempt to escape, the injured man reportedly entered his motor car, HD 8644, and left the scene; however, due to his injuries, he lost control of the vehicle and ended up in a trench.
He was pulled from the vehicle in an unconscious condition and taken to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Initially, the matter was treated as an accident, but after several stab wounds were found on his upper body, investigators are now treating the incident as a homicide.
However, based on information received, the contractor was subsequently contacted, arrested, and placed into custody pending further investigations.
