Sarah Elizabeth Shivpersaud, 26, has been remanded to prison for the murder of her daughter, 7.
The woman allegedly suffocated her daughter, Isabella Dabadial, at their Fyrish, Corentyne, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne) home two Sundays ago.
She appeared at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court today where the charge was officially laid.
The prosecutor told the court that a psychiatric evaluation was done and it is the view of the doctor who carried out the evaluation that Shivpersaud is capable of standing trial.
The court requested a copy of the evaluation report and a copy was handed over.
Shivpersaud, who was unrepresented, was remanded to prison until May 12 and the matter was transferred to the Albion Magistrate’s Court.
