The crash site for the Air Services Limited (ASL) plane that went missing has been located, deep in Guyana’s jungles, on the side of a mountain.
Search and rescue operations are continuing for the pilot, the lone occupant onboard the aircraft.
The pilot has been identified as Captain Ryder Castello, a Nicaraguan national who has been employed with ASL for some ten years. Captain Castello has about 20 years of experience.
Contact was last made with the aircraft in the vicinity of Mahdia, Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni).
The Cessna single engine aircraft, bearing registration number 8R-YAC, was transporting cargo from Mahdia to Imbaimadai in Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni), when contact was lost.
