Police Corporal slapped with corruption charge

See the statement below from the Guyana Police Force:

Akeem Semple, 30, a Police Corporal of Friendship, East Coast Demerara, has been charged in connection with an offence of Corrupt Transaction with an Agent, contrary to Section 105(2)(a) of the Summary Jurisdiction (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:02, allegedly committed on January 13, 2026 at the Non Pareil Police Outpost.

On Wednesday, April 1, 2026, Semple appeared before His Worship Magistrate Sunil Scarce at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court, where the charge was read to him. He pleaded not guilty.

He was placed on self-bail, and the matter was adjourned to April 28, 2026.
