Police in Regional Division #10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) have arrested a 41-year-old carpenter of Wismar, Linden, who fatally staffed another man.
Dead is Ray London, 59, a labourer of South Amelia’s Ward, Linden.
The incident occurred on Thursday (March 5, 2026) about 17:00hrs at the Mackenzie Market, Linden.
According to the police, preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased and another male are known to each other and had previous disagreements. It is alleged that the suspect armed himself with a knife and inflicted a stab wound to the left side of the deceased’s lower abdomen.
The injured man was escorted to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he received medical attention and was subsequently transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical attention on Friday at around 05:33hrs.
The body was escorted to the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
Police have since contacted and arrested the suspect, who is presently in custody assisting with investigations.
Investigations are ongoing.
