Police are investigating an alleged drowning which occurred on Tuesday March 3, 2026, between 08:00hrs and 11:05hrs at the Melanie Damishana/Enterprise Access Road, East Coast Demerara, resulting in the deaths of Jadon De Courte, 10 and Tianna De Courte, 8, both pupils of Melanie Damishana, East Coast Demerara.
Preliminary investigations revealed that about 08:00hrs on the day in question, the children left their home with their mother and were in the area when they reportedly wandered away.
At about 11:05hrs, information was received that two children were found motionless in a trench at Melanie/Enterprise. The mother was alerted and subsequently identified the children as her own.
Emergency Medical Technicians responded and pronounced both children dead at the scene. No marks of violence were observed on their bodies.
Further information will be provided as the investigation progresses.
