A patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) this afternoon jumped from the second-floor male surgical ward, sustaining injuries.
Details surrounding the incident were not immediately available, including the extent of the patient’s injuries.
The incident comes on the heels of a patient dying after jumping from the hospital last month.
The patient, Marissa Eastman, a 22-year-old pregnant woman, died after jumping from the third floor on January 18.
Following the incident, the GPHC had said it was reviewing existing protocols regarding patient observation and mental health monitoring, including their suicide watch polices so as to strengthen patient safety.
