A 15-year-old girl was on Sunday night stabbed some 25 times by a 28-year-old man, who is the father of her 18-month-old child.
Injured is Tiana Chapman, who is currently a patient in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the New Amsterdam Hospital in Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne).
Family members say the teen does not live with the suspect; she resides with siblings at Heathburn Village.
Chapman was at a friend’s home in the village when the incident occurred.
Up to the time of the publication, the suspect had not been arrested.
“Let them catch this boy here. They have to catch him,” the teen’s aunt, Denzel Chapman, said.
The aunt further alleged that there had been previous incidents of violence.
“A couple of times she said he beat her up, he beat her up on the dam, on the road he beat her up… He’s a big boy, and she’s small,” the aunt said.
The aunt said the family had been warning the man to stay away from the teen.
“Long they’re warning him, and the police come in, and tell him to stay away, and this is it,” the aunt noted.
