49-Y-O man charged with murder of Rupununi tour guide

Ken Faria, a 49-year-old Community Relations Officer of Culvert City, Central Rupununi, Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Essequibo) has been charged with the murder of tour guide Leon Baird also known as “Rasta”.

He appeared on Wednesday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts before Magistrate Faith McGusty, where he was not required to plead and was remanded to prison.

The matter was adjourned to March 31, 2026.

Baird, a popular tour guide from the Rupununi, Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Essequibo), was found dead in his vehicle in an area between Wichibi and Sand Creek on January 25.
