WCD man stabbed to death

Fendel Trotman, called “Johnny” or “Rasta Man,” a 30-year-old labourer of Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara, was stabbed to death on Friday.

According to the Guyana Police Force, the incident occurred at around 10:00h at Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara.

Based on police reports, Trotman was working as a mason at a two-storey concrete structure along the Meten-Meer-Zorg Public Road when an altercation reportedly occurred between him and another male. The confrontation allegedly escalated into a scuffle during which the suspect, who was armed with a knife, inflicted a stab wound to the deceased’s chest before fleeing the scene on foot.

The injured man was assisted and escorted to the De Kinderen Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty.

A knife sheath was found in the building. CCTV cameras in the vicinity were identified and will be reviewed as part of the investigation.

The body was subsequently escorted to the Ezekiel Funeral Parlour, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

No arrests have been made.

Investigations are ongoing.
