A house located at Albion, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne) was during the wee hours of today destroyed by fire.
The house was occupied by 43-year-old Faiam Ali, a sugar worker attached to the Albion Estate.
Neighbours recalled seeing the blaze at around 4:00hrs and immediately formed water bucket brigades to help douse the flames while they waited on the Fire Service to arrive.
“Between half hour, the whole village run and meet and they try to out the fire. Them boys call for the fire reel and they nah respond. Fifteen minutes later…a boy tek he cycle and he go and he bring the fire reel but the fire reel come without no water. Then a girl called Rose Hall fire reel and then they come with water,” a neighbour informed this publication.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
