Police are investigating a fatal shooting which occurred on Thursday January 29, 2026 about 18:00hrs at James Street, Albouystown, Georgetown, which resulted in the death of Kevon Ridley, called “Author,” a 28-year-old labourer of the said address.
Preliminary investigations indicate that an unidentified male individual allegedly discharged several rounds in the area, resulting in Ridley receiving fatal injuries. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds about his body and was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he was pronounced dead.
Two other persons were also injured during the incident. A 30-year-old male vendor of Albouystown sustained a gunshot injury to his back and is presently receiving medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, while a 43-year-old spray painter of Lust-en-Rust, West Bank Demerara, received a gunshot injury to his shoulder and is receiving treatment at a private medical facility. Both are reported to be in stable condition.
No arrests have been made.
Police are continuing efforts to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the incident and an update will be provided as the investigation progresses.
