Police in Regional Division # 4 ‘C’ are investigating the discovery of a quantity of suspected cannabis which was found on Friday January 30, 2026 about 00:17hrs during an intelligence-led operation at Victoria Public Road, East Coast Demerara.
During the operation, ranks intercepted a motor car with two male occupants. A search was conducted on the vehicle, during which four parcels wrapped in clear plastic containing leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis were found in the trunk.
Both occupants were arrested and taken into custody at the Cove and John Police Station along with the suspected cannabis, which was later processed and weighed in their presence and amounted to 42.15 pounds before being lodged.
Both suspects, a 24-year-old male taxi driver of Brighton Village, Corentyne, and a 25-year-old male truck driver (address unknown at this time), remain in police custody as investigations continue.
