Efforts still being made to apprehend suspect in murder of Bartica miner – police

Police are investigating an alleged murder which occurred on Friday, January 23, 2026 about 23:30hrs at 14 Mile Issano Landing, Middle Mazaruni, which claimed the life of 38-year-old Emanuel Williams, called “Chiny,” a gold miner of Second Avenue, Bartica.
Investigations revealed that the deceased was at a bar in the area when he became involved in an altercation with a male, during which he sustained a stab injury to his chest.
Efforts are presently ongoing to locate and apprehend the suspect.
The body was escorted to the Bartica Regional Hospital, where it was awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Relative to the above, a post-mortem examination was on Monday, January 26, 2026, conducted on the body of Emmanuel Williams.
The examination was performed by Government Pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, who gave the cause of death as perforation to the lung and heart due to a stab wound to the chest.
The body was subsequently handed over to relatives for burial.
Investigations are continuing.
