Police in Regional Division 4 ‘A’ are investigating an alleged Robbery Under Arms which occurred on Sunday January 18, 2026 about 21:58hrs at Smyth Street, Georgetown, involving a restaurant establishment located at the said address.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a 34-year-old female manager of West Ruimveldt had collected the daily sales from the restaurant and placed the cash into a bag. As she entered her motor car, which was parked in front of the establishment, she was approached by an unidentified male who opened the driver’s side door, pointed a handgun at her and relieved her of a quantity of cash amounting to $642,000 Guyana currency before fleeing the scene on foot.
CCTV cameras in the area were identified and will be reviewed. Several persons were contacted and questioned.
The suspect is presently being sought as investigations continue.
