The Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) today issued a Contravention Notice in accordance with Section 22 of the Town and Country Planning Act, Chapter 20:01, directing the immediate cessation of an unauthorised supermarket operation at Lot 22, part of Area “L” known as Bel Air Village, Plantation Bel Air, Georgetown.

The notice follows findings that the supermarket was unlawfully established and operated without the requisite planning permission, in breach of national planning regulations. The Authority has determined that the commencement of this non-residential activity occurred contrary to the provisions of the Town and Country Planning Act.

Mr. Kamoul Ramdial is fully aware of the process for applying for planning permission through the Single Window portal for any non-residential development. While an application was submitted on October 21, 2025, it failed document validation and was therefore not approved.

The CH&PA reiterates that all industrial, commercial, and non-residential developments must receive formal planning approval before construction or operation, to support orderly development and safeguard surrounding communities.

The Authority remains committed to upholding the law. It stands ready to work with businesses and developers who adhere to due process and comply with the requirements of the planning framework.
