A fire of so far unknown origin has destroyed several businesses in the town of New Amsterdam, Berbice.
Among those destroyed are a supermarket, airline office, and a boutique.
A hotel was also partially damaged in the blaze.
Nevertheless, firefighters managed to prevent the fire from destroying a nearby Scotiabank branch.
This tragedy has struck as the town is celebrating 133rd anniversary.
