Police in Regional Division #3 (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) have arrested two persons in connection with the murder of a 25-year-old Ricardo Thompson.
Thompson, a construction worker of Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara, was found dead at around 03:00 hours on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at De Willem, WCD.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased and his reputed wife had a misunderstanding on Friday, after which the woman went to her parents’ home at De Willem.
Further enquiries disclosed that Thompson later went to the said address around 23:00 hours on Friday evening, however, at about 03:00 hour the following morning, he was found lying motionless on the stairs.
Police visited the scene, where marks of violence were observed on the dead man’s body. CCTV footage from a nearby camera was seen and is being reviewed.
The body was escorted to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty. It was subsequently taken to Ezekiel Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
Police have since detained a 27-year-old housewife of Meten-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara, and a 36-year-old man of De Willem, West Coast Demerara, who are presently in custody assisting with investigations.
Investigations are ongoing.
