Police in Regional Division #10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice) are investigating the discovery of three firearms along with matching ammunition, and a quantity of narcotics at a residence in Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden, in the wee hours of today.
Acting on information received, ranks went to the residence at about 01:30h and conducted a search on a motor lorry parked in the yard, during which a haversack was discovered behind the driver’s seat containing several parcels of leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.

Further checks led to the discovery of three (3) 9mm pistols and nine (9) .32 rounds of ammunition concealed among the suspected cannabis.
A 42-year-old businesswoman of Central Amelia’s Ward was arrested and placed into custody.
Further investigation also led to the arrest of a 36-year-old male driver of Bamia, Soesdyke-Linden Highway, at his residence.
The suspected cannabis was weighed in the presence of the suspects and amounted to 4.536 kilograms. The suspected firearms, ammunition and narcotics were thereafter lodged pending investigation.
Both suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
