137 people killed on Guyana’s roadway for 2025 – Police

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) on Friday reported that 137 persons were killed in 124 fatal accidents on Guyana’s roadways from January 1 to December 31, 2025. In 2024, 132 deaths were recorded from 124 fatal accidents.

The statistics show a 4 per cent increase in deaths and a 6 per cent increase in fatal accidents when compared to the corresponding period. Of the 137 fatalities, six were children-the same as in 2024.

For 2025, 286 serious accidents were recorded and 481 minor accidents. These figures represent a decrease when compared to 2024. In addition, there were 1,288 damage accidents in 2025 compared to 1,467 in 2024 -a reduction of 12 per cent.
