A collision between two motorcycles has left one man dead and two other persons hospitalised.

The dead man has been identified as Hamlette Henrico, a 31-year-old resident of Nappi Village, Central Rupununi in Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo).

The accident occurred on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at about 18:15hrs along the Nappi (trail) Road.

Initial investigations revealed that Henrico was driving a motorcycle (# unknown) and was proceeding south along the left side of Nappi (trail) road at an alleged fast rate.

The other motorcycle, #CG 6196, was driven by 45-year-old Deon Mc Donald with a pillion rider identified as 42-year-old Evangelist Gabriel. They were on the said trail, proceeding west and approaching an intersection.

It is alleged that as the driver of motorcycle CG 6196 approached the intersection, he failed to stop and made a right turn into the path of Henrico’s motorcycle causing the driver to take evasive action in order to avoid a collision.

This proved futile and resulted in a collision, as a result, both drivers and pillion rider were thrown off their motorcycles and received injuries.

A doctor who was nearby rendered assistance. He examined and pronounced Henrico dead on the scene. The other driver and pillion were picked by public spirited citizens and taken to the Nappi Health Centre. They were later transferred to Lethem Regional Hospital via Ambulance.

On arrival at the hospital, they were seen and examined by a doctor on duty and admitted.

The body of Hamlette Henrico was later escorted to the Lethem Mortuary, awaiting post mortem examination.

Investigation in progress.
