1 arrested for allegedly stealing cattle from Melanie farmer

Police in Regional Division 4 ‘C’ are investigating an alleged Larceny of Cattle / Possession of Carcass which occurred between Saturday, March 14, 2026 about 17:30hrs and Monday March 16, 2026 about 06:00hrs at Bachelor’s Adventure, East Coast Demerara, committed on a 61-year-old farmer of Melanie Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim had left two heifers grazing at a pasture in Bachelor’s Adventure. Upon returning later in the day, the animals were discovered missing.

Further enquiries led to a location at Factory Road, Paradise, East Coast Demerara, where police ranks responded and arrested a 44-year-old male of Paradise, East Coast Demerara in connection with the matter.

Suspected beef and skin were recovered and lodged as investigations continue.

Police have since recovered one of the missing animals alive as investigations continue.
