R-L: President Dr Irfaan Ali, Vice President Dr Bharrat Jagdeo, and Prime Minister Mark Phillips

See full statement from the United Republican Party (URP):

The URP which has contested elections since 1992 in all the ten regions, both national and regional, has observed the significant development taking place all over Guyana. It notes with approval the government under President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali’s leadership has met all the manifesto promises made to the people of Guyana during the 2020 elections campaign.

We salute the PPP/C and other parties including the URP standing strong and in unison in defence of democracy post 2020 elections, which resulted in months of delay in the swearing in of President Ali. The URP in the 1992 elections played a significant role in bringing Jimmy Carter to Guyana to monitor the elections, to prevent rigging and enforce democracy. We wanted what was best for Guyana then and still do so to this day.

Guyana’s massive development over the last five years has never been matched before. Several road networks have been constructed all over the country, health care and education have improved vastly. Fifty thousand house lots have been distributed throughout the country to Guyanese of all ethnicity and political entities making President Ali ONE GUYANA concept a positive realization. Cash grants in all forms have been distributed. Wages have increased considerably since 2021. There has, therefore, been unprecedented all-round development in the country.

As a consequence, the URP and its leader Dr. Vishnu Bandhu is endorsing President Ali for a second term 2025-2030. President Ali leadership team of himself, Prime Minister Mark Phillips and VP Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo cannot be matched by any of the contesting parties. Let peace, progress, and prosperity continue under President Ali’s leadership.
