Tempo Networks, USVI TV Partner For Tempo Turns Four


CaribWorldNews, ST. JOHN`S, USVI, Thurs. Oct. 29, 2009: The excitement and energy of the TEMPO Turns 4 pre-show on St. Croix, November 14th will be broadcast live on WTJX-Channel 12, the Virgin Islands Public Television System.

The pre-show, scheduled from 4 – 7 p.m., at Randall `Doc` James Racetrack is set to feature a hot mix of local bands and performers, including: Black Star Band, Empress Nyingro, and Bobo Ites, X-Kaliba, Rankin, and Harry Mo. Deejays mixing soca, reggae and calypso hits through the event will include Selecta Saigon, Cool & Deadly, Fyah Emblem, Selecta Kulcha, and Teflon.

TEMPO Vee-jays, Isadora Ortega, and Devon Matthews will take to the red carpet during the live broadcast, getting the inside scoop and behind-the-scenes information from celebrities, sponsors and fans.

From the red carpet to the stage, the TEMPO-WTJX live broadcast promises to bring all the excitement of TEMPO Turns 4 into Virgin Islands living rooms.

This arrangement is part of a new partnership between TEMPO and Channel 12, which also includes production and programming support between the two networks.

Tanya-Marie Singh, Assistant Executive Director of WTJX,  in commenting on the partnership said, `WTJX has been serving the Virgin Islands community for 37 years and we are happy to assist Frederick and Tempo in celebrating their fourth birthday.  We`re also very pleased to partner with Tempo in exposing the beauty of St. Croix as Tempo will air WTJX`s 13-part series Rediscover St. Croix. 

`Also, Tempo will air our documentary Showtime:  The Legend of Nick `Daddy` Friday, an iconic figure in calypso out of St. Thomas, who is well-known throughout the Caribbean.  There is no doubt in my mind that Tempo`s audience will enjoy these programs.`

Along with the live broadcast, WTJX producers and camera operators will work with TEMPO producers to tape the main event for eventual broadcast on TEMPO.

TEMPO Turns 4 `Lights, Camera, Action!,` will have performances from   Jamaican dancehall sensation Shabba Ranks; Puerto Rican salsa band, N`Klabe; reggae stars Tarrus Riley and Gramps Morgan; three-time Trinidad Soca Monarch Iwer George; Jamaican dancehall diva Ce`Cile; artist Ziggy Rankin, Jamaican gospel singer Omari, St. Croix Road March Champions UMB Soldiers, reggae singer Mada Nile, 2008 VI Idol Winner Cherise King, and DJ Poppy Pops.
