

Antonio Ignatius, a 51-year-old construction worker of Lot 77 Triumph sideline dam, East Coast Demerara, is now dead after being struck by a motorcar.
The accident occurred at about 19:15hrs on Saturday (June 7, 2025) at Agriculture Road, Triumph.
Two motorcars – #PAH 5305, which was driven by a 29-year-old resident also from Triumph, and pedestrian Antonio Ignatius (now deceased), #PYY 4685 – were involved in the accident.
Based on police report, motorcar, #PAH 5305, was proceeding North along the western side of Agriculture Road at a fast rate. The driver alleged that the pedestrian suddenly walked across the road from East to West, into the path of his motorcar, and a collision occurred.
As a result, the pedestrian was flung into the air, fell onto the road surface, and received injuries to his body. The vehicle then collided with motorcar #PYY 4685, which was stationary on the western parapet.
EMT #23 from the Melanie Fire Station was summoned, and the pedestrian was pronounced dead. The body was then escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Mortuary, awaiting a post-mortem examination
